Maintenance tips for your Daiwa Tanacom Power Assist Reel

Keeping your reel free from saltwater and applying long term maintenance will mean more great bags and less loss of fish

Make sure that the reel has completely cooled down before you start any maintenance

Washing maintenance after every fishing trip is recommended to ensure that you will be able to enjoy using the reel for many years to come.Use warm water, under 30 degrees centigrade.If it has terrible dirt, you can use Neutral detergent.

Do not use chemicals, such as, gasoline, kerosene, benzene as these chemicals.

When you notice a deterioration in spool rotation.,,,,,,

1. Wash with Fresh tap water.

2. Wash IC module and panel.

3. Wash each parts about 10 seconds.

4. Wash handle parts.

5. Wash this parts carefully. It is easy to get salt inside as inside cap and handle is cavity.Wash opposite parts of reel.

6. Wash level wind parts. Do not worry about water gets inside, each parts are waterproofed.

7. Wash Spool parts. It is effective to turn the handle.

8. After finish washing, drain off the water.

9. Take off the water with dried soft towel.

10. Loosen the Drag. There is Drainage hole at the reel foot size, make this side is down and dry it in shade. Do not dry in direct sunlight or heat, as it may cause the grease melt.

If the spool is not rotating as smoothly as usual even after normal maintenance then this may indicate that there is a build-up of salt in the bearing near the handle.

Carefully immerse the reel in freshwater up to spool as shown in the diagram. Do NOT immerse the whole reel. Rotate the spool to dissolve the salt and regain performance.Remove the reel from the water and hold it up with the connector side facing down to ensure that the water completely drains from inside the reel.
