Took a test drive yesterday in a Mako 263 up on lake Lanier. From the time we launched the boat till the time we bunked it on the trailer the boat had absolutley no steering., the hydraulic cylinder was leaking terribly. After making a big loop to Bald Ridge Marina and avoiding oncoming and broadside boat traffic the owner, John Garner apologized for the poor demonstration and then proceeded to put it back on the trailer the first try-dead center using just the twin counter rotating Yamaha 250's......first try..he did'nt play around with it either he just ran it up and Bam!! He told me one that one time in another boat he made it all the way from deep in the Bahamas to the Government cut in Miami with no steering...and I have no doubt that he did it. He's selling the Mako because he just bought a 30 ft Bertram Express. This man deserves a Bertram. My buddy Sam bought the Mako today.I've got to admit it was a hair-raising experience being in that boat with John going "full goose bozo"across Lanier without a lick of steering but John never even seemed concerned in the least.
